makeShell: improve `update-nix-bitcoin`

- Don't overwrite `nix-bitcoin-release.nix` on errors
- Show a message to indicate whether `nix-bitcoin-release.nix` was
  updated
- Don't start a shell when called noninteractively

Also, update `usage.md` and reformat `shell.nix`.
